Anna Eisen, IB Film Portfolio

These films were produced for IB HL Film at Berkeley High School, taught by Amanda Marini. They were all conceived of, written, directed, shot and edited by me. All of my films star my sister Stella. See my film resume for more information.

Look the Other Way (2022)

In this film, I worked on exploring new editing techniques, and juxtaposing different color grading and shooting in the same scene. I also directed a larger group of actors than I had worked with in my past productions. Inspirations for this film include Shaun of the Dead, Footloose, Dawn of the Dead, Children of Men, and Grease.

Dining In (2022)

In this film I explored montage, using it to make something mundane – doing the dishes after a big meal – seem exciting. It was shot in a commercial kitchen following a large holiday dinner. Inspirations for this film include Saturday Night Fever, Risky Business, and Love Actually.

The Producer’s Office (2022)

This film was in response to a prompt to make a postmodernism short film. My main goal was to incorporate a wide range of genres, so I took inspiration from dozens of movies such as Shaun of the Dead, Die Hard, Thor: Ragnarok, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Interstellar, You’ve Got Mail, Singing in the Rain, The Young Girls of Rochefort, La La Land, Butch Cassidy, and the Sundance Kid, and many more.

November (2021)

This was made in response to an assignment to create a noir. In addition to all roles in filmmaking, I also composed an original score. I took the majority of my editing inspiration from Dede Allen’s work on Bonnie and Clyde and my cinematography inspiration came from classic noirs like Double Indemnity, Out of the Past, Sunset Boulevard, Laura, and Ace in the Hole.
